Pomodoro Timer with Music for Study and Work

Better Timers has 4 free Pomodoro study sessions with music, in 25/5, 30/10, 45/15 and 50/10 cycles, plus a Pomodoro timer you can start right here. It switches between focus blocks and breaks on its own, with a chime at every switch.

Pomodoro study sessions with music

25/5 · 25 min focus, 5 min break

30/10 · 30 min focus, 10 min break

45/15 · 45 min focus, 15 min break

50/10 · 50 min focus, 10 min break

How the Pomodoro technique works

The Pomodoro technique splits work into focus blocks with short breaks between them. During a focus block you work on one thing only. When the chime sounds, you stop and rest, even mid-sentence, then start the next block fresh.

The classic cycle is 25 minutes of focus and a 5 minute break. Longer cycles such as 50/10 suit work that takes a while to get into, like writing or revision for an exam. Every session here lasts about 2 hours, and the timer moves from one block to the next by itself.

Questions

What is a Pomodoro timer?

A timer that alternates focus blocks and breaks, such as 25 minutes of work and then 5 minutes of rest. The timer on this page switches between them on its own and chimes at every switch.

Which Pomodoro cycle should I choose?

Start with 25/5 if you are new to the technique or find it hard to get going. Choose 45/15 or 50/10 for deep work that takes a while to settle into, and 30/10 if you want a longer rest between blocks.

How do I know when to take a break?

A falling chime plays when a break starts and a rising chime when it is time to focus again. The digits turn green during a break, and the label above them shows the round.

Can I use the Pomodoro timer without YouTube?

Yes. The timer at the top of this page runs in your browser, keeps time in a background tab and can go fullscreen.

Are the Pomodoro timers free?

Yes. The timer and every Pomodoro video are free to play here and on the Better Timers YouTube channel.
